Our Patron – yr Athro: Professor Robert Pickard

We are honoured to have Professor Robert Pickard as our patron and value his support and the knowledge and expertise he shares so eloquently at conferences and events including our 75th Anniversary Conference held in 2018, and at our 2019 Spring Convention.

Professor Pickard is an international authority on the biology of honeybees and Chair of the International Bee Research Association (IBRA). He is President of Cardiff Vale and Valleys BKA and The Central Association of Beekeepers (CABK), and a former editor of the Journal of Apicultural Research. 

He has been described in Bee World as “an original research scientist and a gifted teacher” and his lectures are always fascinating, engaging and entertaining in equal measure.



Braint ac anrhydedd yw cael yr Athro Robert Pickard yn noddwr i ni. Rydyn ni’n gwerthfawrogi ei gefnogaeth a’r wybodaeth a’r arbenigedd y mae’n eu rhannu mor huawdl mewn cynadleddau a digwyddiadau, gan gynnwys ein Cynhadledd 75ain Pen-blwydd a gynhaliwyd yn 2018, ac yn ein Cynulliad Gwanwyn yn 2019. 

Mae’r Athro Pickard yn awdurdod rhyngwladol ar fioleg gwenyn ac yn Gadeirydd Cymdeithas Ryngwladol Ymchwil Gwenyn (IBRA). Mae’n Llywydd Cymdeithas Gwenyna Caerdydd, y Fro a’r Cymoedd a Chymdeithas Ganolog y Gwenynwyr ( The Central Association of Beekeepers (CABK)), ac yn gyn-olygydd Journal of Apicultural Research.

Cafodd ei ddisgrifio yn Bee World fel “gwyddonydd ymchwil gwreiddiol ac athro dawnus” ac mae ei ddarlithiau yn rhyfeddol, yn ddiddorol ac yn adloniadol bob amser.
