BBKA General Husbandry Certificate

Have you been beekeeping for 5 years, passed your Basic Assessment and wish to progress your practical beekeeping education further?
This assessment is designed for beekeepers who prefer the practical approach rather than the written examinations, or you may wish to take this assessment as well as theory modules if your ultimate aim is to become a Master Beekeeper. General Husbandry Assessments are conducted by two BBKA Assessors and involve:
- inspection of the candidate’s apiary, equipment and honey handling equipment.
- manipulation of one or more colonies of the candidate’s bees
- demonstration of a method of selective queen rearing
The application deadline is 28 February in the year of Assessment. To apply, please contact the BBKA Exam Secretary at sec.exams@bbka.org.uk.
Once your application is processed, you will be contacted regarding arrangements for the assessment.
You can download the Syllabus and Guidelines to Candidates. A recommended reading list is also available.
